03 - 05 FEBRUARY: VISITING BURUNDI
The delegation around Her Royal Highness was there joined by the staff of AMADE Burundi and its President, Mrs. Spes Nihangaza.
In Bujumbura and Bururi, the President of AMADE Mondiale encountered
the children of Burundi, hardly marked by civil war, genocide and
exoduses that shaked the history of the country.

03/02 - The delegation started by a visit of
the head office of AMADE Burundi, as well as the Transit centre for
orphans and parentless children; this centre has been built ten years
ago, with the financial support of AMADE Mondiale.
Then, The Princess of Hanover went on the building site of the Reference Centre for the psychosocial rehabilitation of traumatized children. With a financial help of 130.000 Euros from AMADE Mondiale,
the center, currently under construction, will ensure a medical and psychosocial follow-up for many children affected by war.
In the presence of the Burundian Minister to the Presidency in charge
of the fight against AIDS, Her Royal Highness laid the foundation stone
of the futur centre.

from their parents running away from war and massacres, they could tell
the Princess of Hanover about what makes their lifes, their sorrow and
their hopes.
Her Royal Highness also had the opportunity to visit a support group
that cares for orphans in Kanyosha - a disadvantaged district of
Bujumbura - and the humanitarian canteen for orphans.
The day ended with a visit to the Prince Regent Charles Hospital,
especially its paediatric, maternity and internal medicine services.
Her Royal Highness discussed with the Director of the Hospital about
the difficulties experienced by the poor population in accessing
medical care.
