31 JANUARY - 02 FEBRUARY: VISITING NIGER

Accompanied with Mr. Pierre Casiraghi, Her son, and Mr. Francis Kasasa, Secretary-General of AMADE Mondiale, HRH The Princess of Hanover crossed over the country to meet the nigerien children , conducted by Mr. Mahamadou Idrissa, Consul of Monaco in Niger.

A trip that brought Her to Niamey, Kiota and Agadez, to observe the programs accomplished in partnership between Niger and the Principality of Monaco, and study the needs of childhood.

31/01 - The President of AMADE Mondiale first went to the National Hospital of Niamey, in the presence of Niger's First Lady, Mrs. Fati Tandja, and of the nigerien Minister of Public Health.
She inaugurated in the Hospital the Pharmacy dedicated for Nigerien suffering from Sickle Cell Disease; this dispensary is part of the Sickle Cell Disease program , partnership between the ALDN, the National Hospital of Niamey and AMADE Mondiale.
On this occasion, the Princess of Hanover visited the ill families and children, stricken by this blood disorder that hurts 22% of the nigerien people. The children who were present have testified, in front of the members of the delegation, of the daily pains caused by this disease.

The Princess of Hanover also visited the Centre for children with family problems. Supported by "Monaco Aide et Présence", this center can take care of 20 to 30 orphans or abandoned children; it assures them a medical and alimentary follow-up, while waiting to be placed with a foster family.
Karey-Gourou
A visit to the land recovery site of Karey-Gourou followed. Financed by the International Cooperation Bureau of the monacan Government, this program aims to reduce the effects of desertification in this area of the country and to recover agricultural lands abandoned for many years, by giving remunerated work to 300 to 350 countrymen.
Her Royal Highness has been welcomed with great joy by many children from the village, and by Mr. Moustapha Diallo, Chief of the Canton, as well as the leaders of the villages concerned by this project.
At the end of the day, the Princess of Hanover exchanged Her impressions with the members of the Nigerien Government during a working session gathering the different Ministries involved in the cooperation with Monaco: Ministry of Health, Environment, Promotion of the Woman and Protection of the Child, Education... Together, they had a chance to talk over the futur partnerships between Niger and Monaco.
01/02 - The President of AMADE Mondiale had the opportunity to keep on that way on the next day, and to engage with Mr. Mamadou Tandja, President of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Hama Amadou, Prime Minister, and Mr. Mahamane Ousmane, President of the National Assembly.
Kiota
In the afternoon, the whole delegation went to Kiota, to visit the Prince Albert Maternal and Childhood Centre, that takes care each year of thousands of new-born and children suffering from malnutrition. The Princess of Hanover met some of the children who habe been following the cycle of nutritional rehabilitation.
Welcomed by the Sheikh Moussa Aboubacar Hassoumi, Caliph of the Tidjane Brotherhood, Her Royal Highness visited the school complex of Kiota, where She met many pupils of the establishment.

02/02 - The last day ended for the Princess of Hanover in Agadez, where She was welcomed by Mr. Abba Mallan Boucar, Governor of the Region, and by the Sultan of Aïr, Mr. Oumarou Ibrahim. She visited the Integrated Health Centre of Dagmanet, financed by "Monaco Aide et Présence".
Agadez

In Goffat, Her Royal Highness visited a school and the works of protection to the banks, program supported by the International Cooperation Bureau. After She paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Aïr in Agadez, the President of AMADE left for Burundi, next step of Her trip.
