H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover receives the Menschen in Europa 2011 Charity-Award.

H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover was in Passau, Bavaria, on Monday 12 December, to receive the Menschen in Europa 2011 Charity-Award.
This prize is awarded every year in partnership with the German press Verlagsgruppe Passau to pay tribute to a public personality for commitment and presence on the international stage. The Princess of Hanover succeeds to His Holiness the Dalaï-Lama, Angela Merkel and Kofi Annan on the list of this prestigious award.
The Princess of Hanover declared Herself « honoured to receive such a recognition » and called for « a better world for our children to inherit ».

The evening took place in Passau's mediacenter and was attended by more than 500 people, amongst which the First Lady of Bavaria, Mrs. Karin Seehofer. Karl Lagerfeld, awarded in 2009, was present to give Her prize to H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover.

Fundraising for the
Burundian children

The event was the cornerstone of an awareness and fundraising campaign to benefit the activities of AMADE Burundi. Launched in November, the campaign targeting German press readers is highlighting the situation of Burundian orphans and vulnerable chidren.
Spès Nihangaza, President of AMADE Burundi, had a central paret during the evening when answering the questions of the attendance for almost one hour and presenting the guidelines of AMADE Burundi's ground activities.
Thanks to the common help of AMADE Mondiale, Monacan Cooperation and Fight Aids Monaco, AMADE Burundi's support benefit to more than 30 000 people - more than 10 000 of them being orphans and vulnerable children.
Access to healthcare and education, prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission, micro-finance and support for financial autonomy of the families, are the main objectives of the program. The funds raised in Germany will be used to support its phase 2, scheduled until 2014.
