Princess Grace's legacy

Princess Grace of Monaco, founder of AMADE Mondiale

"We are guilty for the suffering and death of any one child in this world while we have the ability to save him. It is to avoid this shame, scandal and remorse that many people of good will have come together to create AMADE.

I am just lending my voice to those millions of innocent children who are calling to us for help and whose plea we seem to ignore".

23 December 1978

A message of love

That word of love and support was handwritten by HSH Princess Grace of Monaco in a message left to all those involved with the organisation. The message read: "AMADE, a word easy to remember as it sounds like 'amour' (love in French)".

"Our task is simple and yet so arduous. To quote the French writer Charles Péguy: 'with regard to misery, not doing everything that is possible means doing nothing'. 600 million children are living in terrible and, at times, life-threatening conditions partly because of our lack of compassion, imagination, energy and generosity. In the name of those millions of children who, as I speak, are suffering and dying, I ask you to support AMADE, I ask you to help me help them".
