On the international level, AMADE supports a variety of programs in the field of ethics, legal ethics and education:
•
in 1999, AMADE engaged in a joint venture with UNESCO to examine
fundamental ethical issues relating to scientific progress in genetics,
biology and medicine, and the rights of the child.
•
since 2001, AMADE participates in projects aimed at fighting commercial
sexual exploitation of children on the internet, and bringing legal
action against the perpetrators of those acts.
•
in 2002, AMADE started an international campaign to the United Nations
for the qualification of the most serious crimes against children as
crimes against humanity.
Alongside this, AMADE operates
humanitarian aid programmes through a wide network of parent local
organizations, which in developing countires are mostly concerned with
poverty, malnutrition or helping street children or children working to
support their family, by providing them opportunities of basic education.
Together with a number of short-term programmes, AMADE also develops major longterm projects:
• A new smile on life :
in Laos, AMADE supports work by Belgian surgeon,
Dr. Dupuis, to operate on cleft palate in children and train local
surgeons in the treatment of this disabling malformation.
• A lifetime wth Sickle Cell Disease in Niger:
in the National Hospital of Niamey, AMADE supports a low-cost medicine programme to relieve the pains of the patients.
• Filipino children:
in the Philippines, AMADE and Virlanie Foundation work together to bring the street children, the disabled or imprisoned children, a chance for a better future.
